Founding Carbon Dioxide Origination Manager

Are you passionate about complex B2B business development? Do you have experience developing partnerships with industrial facilities to capture and monetize waste streams? We are seeking a strategic leader who can build and manage a robust biogenic CO2 supply network, working with ethanol producers, distilleries, wastewater treatment facilities, and other industrial partners to secure the feedstock needed to produce sustainable synthetic fuels at scale.
Role Overview
Reporting to the CEO, the Carbon Dioxide Origination Manager will be responsible for developing and executing our CO2 sourcing strategy—including identifying and qualifying potential suppliers, negotiating supply agreements, and managing ongoing supplier relationships—while ensuring reliable access to high-quality biogenic CO2 that meets our sustainability criteria and volume requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of potential biogenic CO2 sources across target markets, including detailed analysis of volume potential, capture costs, and qualification requirements.
Build and manage relationships with key industrial partners, including ethanol producers, distilleries, wastewater treatment facilities, pulp and paper mills, and other biogenic CO2 sources.
Structure and negotiate long-term CO2 supply agreements that ensure reliable access to feedstock while appropriately sharing risks and rewards with suppliers.
Collaborate with engineering team to evaluate technical feasibility of CO2 capture at potential supplier sites and develop preliminary project scope and cost estimates.
Monitor regulatory developments related to carbon capture and storage, carbon accounting, and lifecycle analysis to ensure supplier qualification aligns with relevant standards.
Foster a culture that exhibits grit, creativity, humility, and care.
Required Qualifications
8+ years experience in business development, origination, or supply chain management within industrial gases, renewable energy, or related sectors
Track record of successfully structuring and negotiating long-term supply agreements
Deep understanding of industrial CO2 sources, capture technologies, and related infrastructure requirements
Experience with carbon accounting and lifecycle analysis methodologies
Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate complex technical and economic trade-offs
Preferred Qualifications
MBA, CEM or relevant advanced degree
Experience with carbon capture projects or industrial gas supply chains
Knowledge of renewable fuel standards and carbon markets
Background in chemical engineering or related technical field
Established relationships within target industries (ethanol, distilling, etc.)
Experience with complex sales methodologies, such as Sandler or MEDDPICC.
Compensation
As a member of the founding team, compensation for this role will depend significantly on equity and will likely include remuneration triggers tied to priced funding rounds.
